About the role:
Advance Medical Practice is seeking an endorsed Nurse Practitioner to join our practice in Westmead and work closely with our General Practitioners. Hours are flexible. The role suits a Nurse Practitioner with an interest in chronic disease management.

This position requires current endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia. Applications from Registered Nurses who are not endorsed as Nurse Practitioners will not be considered.

Must be able to complete own medicare billing via provider number.

Our patient community is broad and includes Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander patients. A range of allied health services operate within the practice, including podiatry, physiotherapy, pharmacy, dietetics, Aboriginal health workers and ultrasound.

Key responsibilities:
  • Assess, diagnose and manage patients independently within your approved scope of practice.
  • Prescribe medications and order and interpret diagnostic investigations within your scope.
  • Manage chronic disease, including care planning and scheduled reviews.
  • Conduct health assessments and preventive health checks.
  • Refer to specialists and allied health services where appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate patient records using clinical software.
  • Work collaboratively with the General Practitioners, nursing and administrative staff.
  • Participate in continuing professional development and quality improvement activities.

Requirements:
  • Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse with Nurse Practitioner endorsement.
  • Master of Nurse Practitioner or equivalent qualification.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Professional indemnity insurance.
  • Eligibility to work in Australia (citizenship, permanent residency or an appropriate visa).
  • Commitment to high standards of patient care and confidentiality.

Desirable:
  • Demonstrated interest and experience in chronic disease management.
  • Experience using Best Practice software.
  • Experience working within a general practice or primary care setting.
